President Donald Trump offered a cryptic excuse Friday for missing his son Donald Trump Jr.\u2019s wedding later this weekend, which comes amid bubbling international tensions.<\/p>\n

Trump confirmed he will not be attending his son\u2019s wedding to Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, citing \u201ccircumstances pertaining to Government\u201d without providing details.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time,\u201d Trump\u00a0said on Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The president offered some indication about what could draw his attention this weekend, telling reporters at the White House on Thursday that\u00a0his son\u2019s wedding was \u201cnot good timing\u201d<\/a>\u00a0because of \u201ca thing called Iran and other things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump is also now expected to return to the White House on Friday evening after a speech in New York. He was originally scheduled to spend the weekend at his New Jersey golf club and return Sunday.<\/p>\n

Trump said Tuesday he had\u00a0planned to launch new strikes<\/a>\u00a0on Iran that day but scrapped the assault after Middle Eastern allies urged him to allow negotiations to develop. Later that day, Trump told reporters the next strike could come \u201cmaybe Friday or Saturday\u201d or \u201cearly next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Secretary of State Marco Rubio\u00a0told reporters in Sweden<\/a>\u00a0on Friday there\u2019s been \u201cslight progress\u201d in talks to end the war, cautioning that he doesn\u2019t \u201cwant to exaggerate\u201d the developments. He also alluded to a \u201cplan B\u201d to open the Strait of Hormuz if an agreement with Iran can\u2019t be reached.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration has also been ramping up pressure to overturn the communist regime in Cuba, leaving some\u00a0officials in Washington increasingly convinced<\/a>\u00a0that military strikes against Cuba are on the table. Trump downplayed the possibility to reporters Thursday, but he continued to suggest the administration is looking at some form of action against the country.<\/p>\n

Trump Jr. and Anderson\u2019s wedding is expected to be an intimate ceremony with a small group of family and friends in the Bahamas,\u00a0Page Six reported<\/a>. Trump Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 12 years until their 2018 divorce. He was previously in a relationship with U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, the ex-wife of California Gov.
